Owners Risk Their Dogs Being Shot!
The Lake district national Park is informing
dog owners to keep their pets on a lead or
risk them being shot by farmers.
Lambing season is upon us and any
unnecessary stress to sheep may cause
problems to their unborn young. The
season officially starts on 1st March and
continues through to 31st July.
The new enforcement requires a dog to be kept on 2m of lead while on designated ground or the farmer will have the right to shot the offending pet with the backing of the law.
National Park Authority ranger Sara Clare, said, "This is a very sensitive
and important time. We ask that proper control is used and dogs are kept on
leads when on access land and near livestock".
