Boost To Footpath Repair Project

Many of the Lake District footpaths are in
great need of repair and thanks to a large
donation of £40,000, this will become a
reality for the worst of those affected.

Friends Of The Lake District has donated this money on top of £130,000 it had already given since an appeal was setup in 2004.

This appeal had a target of £5 million to raise in order to repair all the paths in The Lake District National Park. In order to reach the target, the Upland Paths Restoration project needs to raise £50,000 a year which will then be matched by the UK National Lottery.

The damage caused to these paths is due to the number of people using them accompanied by the natural process of erosion.

You can keep an eye on the progress of these repairs by visiting the Fix The Fells website.
