K9 Recruit For Mountain Rescue
Penrith Mountain Rescue Team
has recruited the services of a two-year-old Border Collie named Dottie.
This is the first time Penrith Mountain Rescue Team has employed the services
of a fully trained mountain rescue dog for a number of years.
At present there are 15 search and rescue dog teams throughout Cumbria which are called upon for about 60 call outs each year. Patrolling the fells in conditions that even the hardiest walkers would not venture out in.
The training normally lasts about 3 years but Dottie has completed hers in 14 months and now lives with her operator Kaz Brush.
Kaz not only has Dottie to help her on the fells, she also is fully equipped with the latest communication & navigation devices available as well as being qualified for advanced first aid.
Welcome to the team Dottie.
