
Body found after lengthy search
The Body of a missing man has been found by a
walker while out on the fells in The Lake District.
The body of the man has been confirmed as
Thomas Huges from Cockermouth. His body was
found by a walker on Pillar above the Ennerdale
Valley. 52 year old Thomas Huges's body was found
at the base of Pillar rock on Saturday night (1st April)
The massive search which involved an RAF helicopter, and 3 mountain rescue teams including Keswick and Wasdale mountain rescue after the man was reported missing to Police on Friday 31st March.
Thomas had fallen from an area on Pillar Rock known as Shamrock Traverse.
His body was air lifted down to Wasdasle and taken away by road. A post mortem
examination is expected to be opened by the coroner.
