Mountain rescue announce record high deaths

 

Deaths in the mountains of the Lake District have reached a record high in 2005.
The Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue Association (LDSAMRA) showed that in total, the teams had been called out to 395 incidents of which 19 involved fatalities.

The 19 fatalities involved 10 people collapsing with heart related medical problems.

At present there is a campaign in progress to make people more aware of the volunteer teams involved in the rescues which are made up of 12 teams and a total of 450 people.
