Striding Edge Fall Rescue

Patterdale Mountain Rescue were despatched to rescue a man who had fallen from the notorious Striding Edge near Helvellyn in the central Lake District.
The 61 year old from Preston had dislocated his shoulder from the fall and bad weather meant that an emergency airlift was impossible.

The mountain rescue team removed the man to safety using a special stretcher where he was taken to hospital in Carlisle.

His condition is stable.
