Bad Car Parking Puts Lives At Risk
Mountain Rescue teams in the Lake District are being delayed unnecessarily due to careless parking of fell walkers and visitors to the National Park.
The Wasdale Mountain Rescue team were returning from an incident on the 1st July when they struggled to pass certain areas of the road due to very poor parking.
They had been called out to the aid of walker who had become separated from his main party in heavy rain and poor visibility on Scafell Pike.
The increase in traffic seems to be in direct relationship with the increase in people attempting the three peak challenge, which is also concerning the mountain rescue teams due to some groups with little or no experience attempting the challenge then calling on the rescue teams to get them to safety after they realise they are not up to the task.
Please can everyone who is using
a motor vehicle to reach areas of the National Park park responsibly. You
never know, it may be you that needs to call out for help and it may be your
car that is stopping them from reaching you!
